Historically a guardian and cattle driving dog, Presa Canario or Canary Dog is a breed originated on the Canary Islands, a group of Spanish volcanic islands that sits about 100 miles northwest of Africa. Known for its calm temperament, often referred to as the "island temperament", it is breed considered "gentle and noble" with the family, and distrusting of strangers.
